About ReFood

An initiative of One World Charitable Trust

Inspired by Perfectly Imperfect — built to make sure good food reaches the people who need it.

Our story

ReFood was established by One World Charitable Trust as a response to the growing issue of food waste in our communities. Inspired by the success of Perfectly Imperfect in New Zealand, we created a platform that connects those with surplus food to those who need it.

What began as a small local initiative has grown into a community-driven movement that’s helping to reduce food waste, support local food producers, and ensure good food reaches those who need it most.

Our mission

A sustainable food system, together

To create a sustainable food system by connecting surplus food with those who need it, reducing waste and building stronger communities.

Reduce waste

We’re committed to reducing food waste by finding new homes for surplus food.

Build community

We connect food providers with recipients, creating meaningful relationships.

Promote sustainability

We advocate for sustainable food practices and responsible consumption.

Our parent organisation

One World Charitable Trust

ReFood is owned and operated by One World Charitable Trust, a registered charity dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for environmental and social challenges — from environmental sustainability to community resilience and social equity.

Inspired by

Perfectly Imperfect

Perfectly Imperfect is a successful New Zealand initiative that rescues “imperfect” produce that would otherwise go to waste. We share its belief that food should be valued for what’s in it, not how it looks — and we’ve widened the idea to all kinds of surplus food.
